screening at society for visual anthropology film and media festival

It is great to be on the festival circuit, to see inspiring films and meet other makers. We were in Washington DC at the AAA, which co-hosts the SVAFMF. We screened Beekeeping in Great Exuma to an almost full house. What a thrill! We were especially happy that our advisor from the Univeristy of Manchester was able to attend.

We were also able to attend a screening of El Mar La Mar and workshop with one of the directors, JP Sniadecki. The film is pure ethnographic poetry, a meditation on the life threatening and often ending journey of migrants through the Sonora Desert in hopes to reach the US from Mexico. The landscape looms largely and the sound brings it to life. Watch it on the big screen if you can.
